School Values
Courage, Compassion, Joy
Welcome to
I am delighted that you are interested in our lovely school.
We are very proud of what we do here. As a small village school, we believe we get to know all of our children as individuals and strive to bring out the best in each of them. We have high expectations of work and behaviour but, as well as working hard, we make sure our children have fun too. Our vision is to 'Feed the mind, nurture the spirit and free the imagination.' By offering the richest curriculum that we can, and inspiring a commitment to our values of courage, compassion and joy, we hope to ensure that our children are well prepared for whatever happens in their lives when they leave us.

Don't forget next week our amazing PTA are putting on the annual event of the colour run! They are crying out for helpers to set up, pack away and help run the event so please can I put a plea out to speak to Jemma, Mel or Chris from the PTA to discuss details and offer your assistance - we'd all be very grateful.
A wonderful leavers service with Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust today for our Year 6 leavers. A wonderful special way to say goodbye to all the leavers in our family of schools. It was a rainy one but once again beautiful organisation and a lovely atmosphere! #year6 #leavers #dorset
Today you'd have spotted our Year 6's somewhere up a cliff, on a beautiful coastal walk, playing games on the beach or if your eyes will let you believe it having some down time reading! What a joy to hear and see what they are all getting up to. Pushing themselves, getting over their fears and building relationships together! Go team Durweston
And they're off to a flying (but windy) start. Year 6 have fully embraced all that's on offer on day 1 of Land and Wave, here's just a couple of snippets to let you all know they are having a ball!
Dolphins have been busy in Art, learning about and using different materials to create these bird sculptures - they've been so creative and they're all so unique, we'll share the class set soon, can you spot who each one belongs to? #art #sculpture #year1 #year2
An amazing afternoon in the sunshine at the beautiful Clayesmore school to partake in the Year 5/6 Cricket tournament. Thank you for having us, it was such a wonderful opportunity for all to participate in a cricket tournament. Our team did so well and really pulled together as a team to shine Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust #dorsetschool
Wow we couldn't be prouder of our amazing Year 6's this week! They did it though, they got through the week, they kept their calm, determination and positivity and we are amazed by them! Well done Year 6 across the board Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust
Another wonderful tradition held today at Durweston, our May Day celebration. Started with the procession of the May queen, dances performed by each class (preschool's first ever one) and amazing traditional games were played. Thank you PTA for supplying the parents and children with refreshments all afternoon and for supplying us with plenty of eggs to fulfill the races and egg throw! We all had a marvellous time and hope you did too! #dorsettraditions Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust #dorsetschool
Couldn't be prouder - we've only gone and done it again! Year 4 netball team today absolutely blew us away with their team work, positivity and support for each other at #BSN netball tournament - we won! Well done team, can't wait to see what's next #durweston Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust
We were thrilled today to have a very special visitor! Meeting this incredible tortoise and learning lots of new facts about them was such a highlight of the week! Thank you Ally for giving up your time to share with our children. #animalvisit
It's lovely to see the support from our Trust and a press release that's being sent out to celebrate our news. Thank you again for the amount of support and kind words we've received over the last couple of days, it means such a lot!
